On August 5, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei visited the Attarat Power Plant project in Jordan.

Ambassador Guo noted that the Attarat project supplies 17 percent of Jordan’s electricity, strengthens the country’s energy security and its capacity to ensure secure and reliable energy supply through greater self-reliance, and provides stable local employment. Its strategic value has become increasingly evident amid changes in the regional situation. As an important participant in this trilateral cooperation project involving Malaysia, China and Estonia, the Chinese company will continue to contribute to the realization of Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision.

Ambassador Guo inspected the project’s central control room, power plant operational areas and mining site, among other facilities. He urged the company to ensure the safety and security of both the project and its personnel.
