Political Relations and Exchange of Visits

China and Jordan established diplomatic relations on April 7,1977. And the relations have been developing steadily.

I. Chinese leaders' visit to Jordan:
From the Chinese side, many senior officials including the following have visited Jordan: Vice Premier Ji Pengfei (Sept.1980), Vice Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Cheng Zihua (May 1983), Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, Wang Renzhong (Jan. 1984), President Li Xiannian (March 1984), Deputy Chief of Staff He Zhengweng (Dec. 1984), State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wu Xueqian (Dec. 1985), State Councilor and Minister of Defense Qin Jiwei (June 1990), Premier Li Peng (July 1991), Vice Chairwoman of National People's Congress (NPC) Chen Muhua (April 1996), Vice Premier Wu Bangguo (May 1996), Chairman of NPC Qiao Shi (Nov. 1996), Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, State Councilor and Minister of Defence Chi Haotian (Oct. 1999), Vice President Hu Jintao (Jan. 2001), State Councilor Ismail Amat (Jan. 2003), Vice Chairwoman of National People's Congress (NPC) Gu Xiulian (Dec. 2003);   

II. Jordanian leaders' visit to China:
And from the Jordanian side, senior officials who visited China were King Abdullah II (As Prince in July 1981, Sept. 1983 and Dec. 1993 and as His Majesty in Dec. 1999, Jan. 2002 and July 2004), Late King HUSSEIN (Dec.1982 and Sept.1983), Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Majali (May 1985), Foreign Minister Masri (Sept. And Nov. 1987), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Marwan AL Qasem (Aug. 1990), Princess Basma (Aug. 1995 and April 1998), Prince Hasan (June 2000), House Speaker Abdul Hadi Majali (July 2000), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Dr. Halaiqa (Sept. 2001);
