On 26 December, H.E. Chen Chuandong, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan met with Jordanian Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Khaled Huneifat and had in-depth exchanges on strengthening agricultural cooperation. Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese embassy Mr. Luo Wenjun, heads of relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Jordan were present at the meeting.

Minister Huneifat spoke highly of the achievements made in the agricultural cooperation between the two countries and expressed wishes to further deepening it by expanding trade of agricultural products, strengthening agricultural technology exchanges and human resources training and cooperation to promote development of agriculture of Jordan.

Ambassador Chen stated that China and Jordan have enjoyed long standing friendship. Bilateral relationship and cooperation in all fields have been constantly elevated to new heights under the strategic guidance of leaders of the two countries. Agriculture is vital to the well being of all nations. China is willing to build on the implementation of Global Development Initiative and achievements of the first China-Arab States Summit to strengthen synergy with Jordan’s implementation of Economic Modernization Vision and national agricultural strategies to explore new areas in agricultural cooperation, better safeguard food security and achieve the poverty alleviation goal. The Chinese Embassy in Jordan will give full play to its role as a bridge to help the relevant institutions and enterprises of the two countries to deepen cooperation and deliver more solid outcomes.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in multilateral agricultural organizations and other issues of common concern.
