Notice on Provisional Measures for travelers to China

According to China's latest Covid-19 control measures, to ensure more convenient, secure, orderly and efficient movement of persons travelers to China are announced as follows and will take effect on 8 January 2023. 

1.Requirements for Pre-boarding Testing

All travelers going to China still need to take a nucleic acid test within 48 hours before departure. Travelers with negative test results no longer need to apply for health code from the Chinese Embassy/Consulate, but need to upload the test results in the Chinese customs health declaration system. Travelers with positive test results should travel after new tests returning negative results.

2. Instructions for Health Declaration

Travelers going to China are required to submit their PCR test results within 48 hours before departure through WeChat mini-program "Customs Pocket Declaration " or at the website (https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn/htdec1web/home/pages/healthDeclare/declare.html) by filling out the required forms.

3. Entry Inspections

PCR tests will not be conducted for all travelers entering China. Those who have a normal health declaration and no abnormalities during the routine inspections at customs at ports of entry do not need quarantine after entering. Those with abnormal health declarations or symptoms such as fever will be subject to antigen testing by customs. For travelers with positive antigen test results and asymptomatic infection or mild cases, you can choose to take home/ residence self-quarantine or self-care. In other cases, it is recommended to go to medical institutions for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. For travelers with negative antigen test results, the customs will conduct routine inspections.

4. Visa Policies

Further conveniences will be provided for applications for work, business, study, visit, and reunion visas.

5. International Flights

Restrictions on the number of international passenger flights will be incrementally removed, and the number of flights will be increased in stages. Travelers going to China still need to precaution and wear masks on-board.

6. Inbound and Outbound Tourism

Inbound and outbound tourism will be resumed step by step based on global pandemic situations and service capabilities. Outboard tourism of Chinese nationals will be resumed in an orderly manner and on trial basis.
