2022-07-31 21:33

The Chinese Embassy in Jordan held an online reception on July 28 to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Brigadier General Kaede Jarrat, Director of Military Training of the Jordanian Armed Forces and other officers of JAF were invited to attend the event. H.E. Ambassador Chen Chuandong, Defense Attaché Senior Colonel Li Pengfei and Deputy Defense Attaché Xiao Wangyang attended the reception.

H.E. Ambassador Chen Chuandong said in his speech, history and reality have proven that the PLA is not only the Great Wall of Steel in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests of China, but also a strong force for world peace and progress. In a fast evolving and complex world today, countries are confronted with many common security challenges. Based on this background, President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Security Initiative (GSI), which is underpinned by “six commitments”, staying committed to the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security; staying committed to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries; staying committed to abiding by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter; staying committed to taking seriously the legitimate security concerns of all countries; staying committed to peacefully resolving differences and disputes through dialogue and consultation; and staying committed to maintaining security in both traditional and non-traditional domains. China is against the doctrine of zero sum game and achieving one’s own security at the expense of others. China is against the practice of applying double standards and abusive unilateral sanctions. China and Jordan have maintained close coordination in international and regional affairs, "our mutually beneficial exchanges and cooperation in various fields, including military, security, counterterrorism, and law enforcement, have grown with fruitful achievements".

Defense Attaché Senior Colonel Li Pengfei told the guests that China doesn’t have the aggressive or hegemonic genes, but always calls for peace and opposes the use of military force. The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century and the regional situation is getting increasingly complex. The Chinese and Jordanian Armed Forces will continue to expand exchanges, deepen cooperation, and play an active role in jointly safeguarding world peace and justice.

Brigadier General Kaede Al-Jarat, on behalf of the JAF,  warmly congratulated the 95th anniversary of the Chinese PLA , and said that the two militaries have made sustained cooperation in counter-terrorism and promoting regional security with fruitful results. The reception was a great success.
