Chinese Ambassador to Jordan H.E. Chen Chuandong met with Mr. Nabil Assaf, Representative of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO)in Jordan on August 25, discussing ways to step up cooperation between China and FAO in Jordan.

Mr. Nabil Assaf briefed Ambassador Chen on FAO's major work in Jordan including projects on agricultural modernization, water resources management and refugee relief. He said that FAO looked forwards to joint efforts with China in providing technical assistance to capacity building and sustainable development of agriculture in Jordan.

Ambassador Chen commended the important role FAO plays in promoting global food security and reducing poverty and referred to FAO as a major partner of China in international development cooperation. He said that China would strengthen coordination with FAO in Jordan to help the country achieve greater food security and sustainable development of agriculture, rising up to the challenges of COVID-19 and climate change.
