Mr. Chen Jian, China's Assistant Minister of Commerce met with Jordan's Planning and International Cooperation Minister Suhair Al-Ali, and signed three cooperation agreements on June 19.

The first agreement covers a $2.6 million (RMB 20million) grant to be utilised for financing development projects that will be agreed upon between the two governments until the end of this year.

The second agreement concerns the implementation of two electronic boards installed at Al Hussein Youth City in Amman and Prince Mohammad Sports City in Zarqa at an estimated cost of $2.6 million.

The third agreement relates to training in China being provided to 30 Jordanian officials from the public sector and 10 from the Civil Defence Directorate.

"The support extended under these agreements is a clear indication of the Chinese government's commitment to further support developmental initiatives and projects in Jordan, as well as to build the capacity of Jordanian officials in various fields," Al-Ali said.

She discussed with the Chinese official, who is currently visiting Jordan to participate in the 2nd China-Arab Business Conference, the steps required to speed up the construction of the Baqaa hospital and housing for poor families, both of which are financed by the Chinese government.

Chen underlined the exceptionally good bilateral relations between the two countries and stressed that China is committed to further support Jordan in various fields and to enhance trade and investment relations between the two countries.
